Corinthians Alagoas entered football history as the first Alagoas State football team to participate in international competitions. As a detail, at the first came the title.
After having completed a marathon, time zone and other problems, Corinthians Alagoas I was the champion of Winter Tournament, held in Kumanoto and Yatsushiro (Japan) in 1992. There were five games and no defeats, winning the IEC Football Club, the selection of South Korea and Kumanoto.
After the East, much more structured, Corinthians Alagoas opened the doors of the European market, going to compete in the finals on two occasions Carnevalle, in the Italian town of Viareggio. The competition took place in 2000.
On the very first competition, an unprecedented event was won by the team Alagoas. For the first time a team from another country has achieved in its debut through to the second phase. This was won after a tie with Lazio (0-0) and Milan (1×1) and trouncing the Israeli Maccabi Haifa (4-1).
Already in the Eighth Finals, acting in Viareggio, Corinthians won the 5×4 in Rome, in the shootout, was eliminated by Empoli, in the quarter-finals with a 3-0 defeat. Viareggio Roma 4×5 Corinthians Alagoas. Eliminated, but the top eight.
In 2001, in the first round, Corinthians showed its power rating to ensure a draw with Fiorentina (1-1) and Empoli (0-0) and beating Standard Liege (Belgium) 2-0, then coming in the quarter-final. Was eliminated by Juventus, losing 1-0, the game held in Seravezza.
